The Canadian
climate is not as cold all year round as many believe. In winter,
temperatures generally fall below freezing point throughout most
of Canada. The south-western coast however has a relatively mild
climate, and the Arctic Circle experiences mean temperatures well
below freezing for seven months of the year.
During the summer months
the southern provinces often experience high levels of humidity
and temperatures that regularly surpass 30 degrees Celsius.
Western and south-eastern
Canada experience high rainfall, whereas the Prairies are dry
with around 250 mm to 500 mm of rain each year.
